Hi, I’m Marie Ford Cicogni– a 70’s plus “barefoot boomer” who fervently embraces the aging process with full  on confidence, exuberance, and joy!  I share my story about marrying and having a family young and how my experience developed into years of self-neglect.  As a people-pleaser, my energy went to a husband spiraling into mental illness, raising two children, and working full time as sole financial support of my nuclear family.  In the midst of this chaos, I found myself in the position of parenting my aging parents.

When you find yourself curled in a ball in the corner crying, exhausted, and yelling that you can't be everybody's mommy any longer, that you need help - you finally realize it's time to start putting your own physical and mental health first. 

After listening to me speak, you and your audiences will take away some different thoughts on "how to" look at self-care and self-love. I want to help you find confidence and determination to express your authentic selves – embrace self-acceptance, self-love, and self-care, with courage, grace, and humor, irrespective of your age or physical abilities!

My Self-Care workshops are interactive. I encourage not just listening, but more importantly, my attendees considering their own experience (past or present) and how they can utilize simple thoughts and tools to remind them that "I have to come first, so I am healthy enough to take care of those who truly need me - or comfortably say no".

My Aging Joyfully workshops, also interactive, seek to provide attendees with takeaways surrounding the inevitable process of aging:

• Age DOES NOT define us!
• We owe no-one an explanation for doing just what we want to do!
• A positive mind-set promotes a healthier lifestyle!
• Gratitude goes a LONG WAY in maintaining a positive mind-set!
• Find some amount of joy in every situation
• If you can do it, DO IT!
• The importance of staying as active and independent as possible
• Never stop learning!
